My (extended and exuberant) family and I spent a wonderful week in Domaine de Belcastel. It is a spacious and beautifully restored farmhouse in a stunning rustic location - photos do not do it justice! The farmhouse has been thoughtfully decorated with clever details and workmanship throughout. It was spotlessly clean and well maintained. There was plenty of space and storage for a large family or group, inside and out. Every necessary appliance and amenity was provided with plenty of towels and hot water to go around. The barbeque area and pool were particular hits with our family! Pauline was very approachable and beyond helpful before, during and after our stay. She was a mine of useful information, gave us great local recommendations (and routes) and was a source of delicious produce from the farm! Tess, the friendly and good-natured Border Collie, was entertaining and very diligent about visiting thrice-daily; I'm sure the fact that there was often food involved was purely coincidental! Domaine de Belcastel is located in a scenic and peaceful rural location; it's elevation gives it spectacular views over the valley. A working farm, every morning was heralded by the cock-crow (though some chose to sleep through it)! It is easily accessible from Carcassonne, with Limoux's boulangeries, patisseries and well-stocked supermarket a 15-minutes drive away. Domaine de Belcastel is the perfect place to relax (or from which to explore the region) and Pauline, the perfect host!
